Debbie is a retired elementary teacher with 31 years under her belt. She started out as a Junior High band director then went into elementary music. After eleven years of teaching music, she became a second and third grade classroom teacher. She retired as a third grade teacher. During that period, she also spent 27 years as the choir director at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Franklin Park, IL.
She is married to her best friend, Don and is the grandmother of six; three boys and three girls who keep her very busy. Between babysitting, attending hockey and soccer games, she has found time to join The Vintage People band as the keyboard player. Through the band, she has met many wonderful people who share their love of playing music together—along with having a fun time!

Catherine is the former Editor-in-Chief of the Chicago Weddingpages magazine. She has authored two novels, with more in the works. In addition, she has written numerous short fiction stories, as well as non-fiction. She is trying to balance her writing career with her need to be a hands-on grandmother to Logan and Brynn, who light up her life in more ways than she dreamed possible.
With such a full schedule, it came as a surprise when she found herself joining The Vintage People. But she is married to Greg, the bass player for the band. Since band practice takes place weekly in their home, the urge to try her hand at singing some harmony was compelling—just to be part of the fun. Before long, someone handed her a tambourine, with instructions to “shake it.” She’s been doing that ever since.
What started as a group of active adults getting together to make music, mainly for kicks, has now evolved into a serious commitment to perform for others…all the while, still having a great time.
FAVORITE ARTIST: Sarah McLachlan , Norah Jones.
FAVORITE GROUP: Trans Siberian Orchestra, although she could name many others! That is just one genre of music that she enjoys.
FAVORITE SONG: "Arms of the Angel" by Sarah McLachlan. Also,
"I Will Remember You" by Sarah McLachlan.
FAVORITE INSTRUMENT: A Guild guitar, and the tambourine she plays in The Vintage People Band, which had been given to her by our flute player, Carolyn, before she passed away.
HOBBIES: Cooking, reading, WRITING (which, when she is doing what she should be doing, is a profession and not a hobby).
Author of novels "Once Upon A Secret" and "Fly Me To Paradise".

Karen was born on the south side of Chicago and began her musical career at the age of 7, when her parents bought an accordion from a traveling salesman. While that instrument ended up in the back of a closet, her love of music was born and has continued to this day.
Throughout the years, Karen has played the organ, piano, and even a little guitar ( thanks to her obsession with The Beatles). High school and college afforded Karen the opportunity to perform in various choirs, choruses, and musical theater productions.
Joining The Vintage People Band has been a dream come true for Karen. After all, who has not dreamed of being in a rock band!? Not only does she get to sing and occasionally play the keyboard, but she gets to be with people she now regards as her second family. She considers it an honor and a privilege to be a part of such an outstanding group of caring and talented people.
To make things even better, Karen is married to Chris, the drummer for The Vintage People. Being able to live out this rock-and-roll dream with him makes life just about perfect!
Karen and Chris are the parents of two amazing daughters, Carrie and Katie, a terrific son-in-law, Ken, and the newer loves of their lives, granddaughters Julia and Alexa. Karen is retired from her role as an educator in a nearby school district.
FAVORITE ARTIST: Elton John (also Josh Groban and Andrea Boccelli).
FAVORITE GROUP: The Beatles (also Three Dog Night, Hall and Oates, Air Supply, Styx and The Vintage People Band!).
FAVORITE SONG: "Somewhere in Time" by John Barry.
FAVORITE INSTRUMENT: Violin, then organ and piano.
HOBBIES: Reading, baking, needlework, spending time with Julia and Alexa.
