Percussion While he is not sure if being an Army “brat” gave him a predisposition for wanting to make the crisp rat-a-tat-tat on a snare drum, Chris enjoys being the drummer for The Vintage People Band. He thanks his parents and wife for having tolerated the noise of the numerous practice sessions. But then again, how is one supposed to improve their percussion skills?
Chris was caught up in the rock music explosion that took place in the mid-sixties, and was part of a garage band group called “The Other” in the Alexandria, Virginia area, until his family had to move due to a change in his father’s military assignment. Since then, there has not been a time when some popular song of the day wasn’t going through his head, and his fingers or feet were not tapping out the drum rhythm. This is still true today as he listens to the great songs from the 50’s on up to today’s hits on the radio while he commutes to work as a website and computer application programmer. Chris and his wife Karen (also of The Vintage People Band), met in college while working on their teaching degrees. They have two daughters, Carrie and Katie, and a son-in-law, Ken, who are all teaching in the Chicago area, as well as two granddaughters.
